Daegu’s World Silver Medalist, Danielle Carruthers is set to make her 2012 outdoor debut at the Powerade Great CityGames in Manchester, UK.

Of the specially constructed sprint straightway down the city’s Deansgate, the 2011 Diamond League Champion said, “The street race is very unique, because the fans are so close to you. You can actually feel their energy, which I feel contributes to a great race, and most importantly keeps it fun!”
Establish in 2009, this Sunday’s May 20th fourth installment of the meet will include American sprinters Wallace Spearmon and Walter Dix as well as also mark the seasonal outdoor start of British heptathlete Jessica Ennis. “I'm very excited to once again be apart of the Manchester CityGames,” expressed Carruthers adding, “This will be my third time competing in the street race. I can't wait to be there!” Carruthers won the CityGames' Women's 100-meter Hurdles last year in 12.73 seconds besting USA's Ginnie Crawford and Brits Jessica Ennis and Tiffany Porter.
From Manchester, Carruthers will continue her season competing on the European circuit in Hengelo, Netherlands for the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games on the 27th and at the Golden Gala in Rome at the end of the month on May 31st.
